FRCC Girls Golf History

The Fox River Classic Conference began competing in 2007 when the eight schools of the former Fox River Valley Conference were joined by four schools from the Bay Conference forming a twelve team league.

Schools from the Fox River Valley Conference:  Green Bay East, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West, Manitowoc Lincoln, Notre Dame Academy, Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South.

Bay Conference Schools:  Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere and Pulaski.

This configuration of schools remained intact through the 2014 school year.  Green Bay East and Green Bay West left the FRCC and joined the Bay Conference at the start of the 2015 school year leaving the FRCC with its current make-up of 10 schools.

From 2007, the beginning of the FRCC through 2013, the league consisted of nine teams in Girls Golf.  Green Bay Southwest and Green Bay West competed as a Co-op team as did Sheboygan North and South.  Manitowoc has not fielded a girls golf team in the FRCC.

In 2014 Green Bay East did not field a team bringing the make-up of the league to eight teams.  The league remained at eight teams and Green Bay West continued to co-op with the Green Bay Southwest program even though West had moved to the Bay Conference in 2015.

In 2017 the league was further whittled down, going to seven teams as the Green Bay Southwest/West Co-op disbanded.  For three years Green Bay Preble competed as a lone entity from the Green Bay Public School District in the FRCC and in 2021 the four public schools of the Green Bay School District banded together to form the Green Bay Co-op (Preble, Southwest, East and West) bringing the league to its current make-up of seven teams.

Notre Dame Academy and Bay Port have been the teams to beat in the FRCC.  Notre Dame won nine of the first eleven Conference Championships with Sheboygan (2010) and De Pere (2015) being the two schools to prevent eleven out of eleven.  Since 2018, Bay Port has made it five Conference Championships in a row.  No conference champion was recognized in 2020 because of the Covid Pandemic.

Bay Ports dominance in the FRCC has carried over to the WIAA tournament as they have won seven consecutive Sectional meets to qualify as a team for the WIAA State Golf Tournament.  The Pirates also boast the only FRCC State Champion in Jo Baranczyk.  Baranczyk, in fact, is a three time State Champion in Division 1 finishing as the medalist in 2018, 2019 and in the alternate season State Championship in 2021 because of Covid.  A preview of things to come occurred in Baranczyk’s freshman year in 2017 when she finished 5th overall.

Notre Dame Academy has two State Championships and a runner-up finish as a member of the FRCC.  The Tritons won the State Championship in both 2007 and 2008 in Division 1 and in 2023 they finished as the runner-up in Division 2.  Bay Port has a runner-up finish in the State Tournament finishing 2nd during the alternate State Tournament Series held in the Spring of 2021 because of the Covid Pandemic.

Overall, the FRCC has had 21 top 10 finishes in the WIAA State Girls Golf Meet since 2007.  You can find those individuals listed in the records Section.
